Kyra Senese, Managing Editor

Kyra Senese has joined Railway Track & Structures as managing editor, reporting to Mischa Wanek-Libman, RT&S editor.

An Illinois native, Kyra is a May 2016 alumna of Columbia College Chicago, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism with a magazine writing concentration. She initially joined RT&S as assistant editor in August 2016. Kyra previously worked as a research assistant with Advertising Age. Her journalism career began at Columbia’s student-run newspaper, The Columbia Chronicle, where she worked her way up to become editor-in-chief.

CTA hits Wilson Station project milestone

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) opened the third of three new entrances to its revamped Wilson Red/Purple Line station Dec. 1.

The Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) is gearing up to conduct switch installation work near its Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn as part of its Vanderbilt Yard Reconfiguration project.

The Miami Metrorail team celebrated the launch of new train into service Nov. 30 for the first time in more than three decades.

 

The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) has provided the Fiscal and Management Control Board (FMCB) with a long-term strategic plan for continued track maintenance and an update on major short-term improvements for Green Line track areas.

HART unveils Hawaiian names for rail stations

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) has announced the Hawaiian names set to be used for the nine rail stations on its rail system as recommended by the Hawaiian Station Naming Working Group.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (SCVTA) has awarded WSP USA a contract to oversee the second phase of the Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) extension to Silicon Valley.

Young adults targeted with new OLI videos

Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) has released new videos to educate young adults about the dangers of loitering near trains and tracks.

The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) proposed a balanced $1.51 billion operating budget Nov. 22, with its capital program seeing a raise from a new revenue stream.

 

Ontario is building a new station building, parking structure and bus loop at the Cooksville GO Station. The project is set for completion in 2020.
