Mischa is originally from Grand Island, Neb., and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, with a major in magazine journalism and minor in business management. She began her career in journalism and railroading at Railway Track & Structures in 2001 when she joined as assistant editor, before being named managing editor in 2008 and editor in 2010.

Illinois awards $241M to freight projects

Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) awarded $241 million to 23 state freight projects on June 5.

The feasibility of advancing the Dumbarton Transportation Corridor will be explored thanks to an agreement between the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) Board of Directors; Facebook, Inc., and Plenary Group.

The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) recommended 26 projects to be awarded a total of $1.54 billion in federal funds as part of the FY18 Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program. USDOT had up to $1.56 billion available for grants.

A bridge project that will support work performed as part of the Walk Bridge Program in Connecticut will begin in mid-June.
